About the department

Department of Integrative Physiology

The aim of our research is to understand the common mechanisms by which the brain, in particular the hypothalamus, regulates sleep and aging/ longevity in mammals and to translate our knowledge on clinical applications against age-associated sleep dysfunction and other pathophysiology.

Research Focus

  1. Identification of  the central mechanisms regulating age-associated sleep alterations.
  2. Elucidation of the effect of chronic abnormal sleep-wake patterns in systemic body function and longevity.
  3. Identification of biomarkers for age-associated sleep dysfunction in humans.
