Medical Genome Center

The Medical Genome Center (MGC) was established as a platform for the promotion of genomic medicine, which provides diagnosis, treatment, and prevention based on the genetic information of each individual. Genomic medicine for multifactorial diseases such as dementia and diabetes is still in the research stage, but we are accumulating genomic information on diseases so that it can be implemented in medicine as soon as possible. We also in charge of the biobank business, which collects and stores the bioresources (specimens) and clinical information that will form the basis of the biobank.

Welcome to the website of the Medical Genome Center (MGC).

MGC is a platform for the promotion of genomic medicine, which provides diagnosis, treatment, and prevention based on genetic information, but genomic medicine for multifactorial diseases such as dementia is still in the research stage. However, in some cases of familial dementia, the causative gene mutations are known, and genetic analysis (clinical sequencing) can contribute to the diagnosis. In this way, the genetic information of each individual has a deep relationship with diseases and is expected to lead to personalized medicine and precision medicine in the future.

MGC has been analyzing the genetic information of dementia and arthropathy that occur in old age and has published many results. In addition, MGC is developing a biobank business to store biological samples (specimens) donated by people who have visited the hospital. The biobank has a database of more than 20,000 specimens and accompanying medical and laboratory information registered from cohort studies of residents. These samples can be used by domestic and international researchers. We look forward to your use of the MGC research infrastructure.
