Center for Comprehensive Care and Research on Memory Disorders

Japanese

Welcome to our memory center in NCGG!

The number of older adults with cognitive decline is increasing in Japan. In 2010, the National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology (NCGG) opened the "Center for Comprehensive care and Research on Memory disorders" to provide state-of-the-art dementia care. It is the largest and highest-level dementia disease medical center in Japan. Fifteen dementia specialists perform differential diagnosis for more than 1,000 initial patients per year.

For the treatment of dementia, our Memory Clinic provides medication and rehabilitation, as well as treatment for behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia and physical diseases that are likely to occur with dementia. Through these treatments, the center seamlessly supports the lives of elderly people with dementia and their caregivers. In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of older people who come to see the clinic with milder dementia or mild cognitive impairment. We offer many preventive programs, psychological support for the patient and family, and treatment with newly developed drugs (clinical trials).  Center for Comprehensive care and Research on Memory disorders will continue to develop and provide new treatments for dementia through both medical care and research.
