| 2. Research purpose and our sprits It should be really important mission that we concerned with aging research help to grow old soundly in the aged society coming at a record-breaking speed, in other words, to maintain healthy aged persons. Along with aging, we are faced with the weakness of daily immune response decreasing by 10% of young people and we have realized this decline involves the major cause of various diseases which the aged is suffered consequently. Especially, it is said that the weakness of aged people's resistance to the infectious disease is caused by the decline of host defense function including the immunological memory lasting for a long time. In other words, it is obviously important subject for our facing aged society that we challenge to analyze a molecular mechanism of the establishment or maintenance of immunological memory in which memory B cells and the effecter cells play a central role. We are also interested in the molecular mechanism of aging through a little more fundamental aging research in addition to the research on immune response with aging described above. This strategy is based on a differential screening of gene expression in murine or even human aging and our aim and goal is to search and reveal one of master genes regulate normal aging exhaustively.@We have isolated several novel or known cellular senescence related genes from mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEF) and analyzed their function reaching to throw a new light on mechanism of human aging. We also generate the gene targeted mutant mice to analyze its biological significances on functional disorder, morbid growth or apoptosis. Ultimately our goal is to clarify the relation of cause and effect between its functional disruption and diseases and find the best treatment to be recovered. | |
