Provides specialized care for diseases of abdominal organs including the digestive tract (esophagus, stomach, and small/large intestines), liver, biliary tract, and pancreas.
Disorders mainly targeted include malignant tumor in the abdomen, gastric/duodenal ulcer, cholelithiasis, choledocholithiasis, and nonspecific enteritis (ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease).
The NCGG is an instructional institution authorized by the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society, and is also authorized by the Japanese Society of Gastroenterology.
Treatment is centered on chemotherapy for gastric cancer, chemotherapy combined with radiotherapy for esophageal and pancreatic cancer, chemoembolic therapy and RF coagulative cauterization for hepatic cancer, endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR or ESD) for early gastric cancer and colon cancer, helicobacter pylori elimination for gastroduodenal ulcer, granulocyte elimination for inflammatory bowel diseases, and stenting for malignant biliary stenosis.
We seek medical care centered on interventional therapies (endoscopic therapy, local treatment for cancer), which give first priority to "preserving and improving ADL (activities of daily living) and QOL (quality of life) without resort to surgical operations" in consideration of long-lived society in the future.
We also emphasize palliative treatment of terminal cancer patients based on a medical team including the nursing staff.
