Laboratory of Radiation Safety

Objectives and Roles

To control radiation safety and conduct research using radioisotopes. To analyze changes in brain metabolism in patients with age-related disorders such as Alzheimer's disease to promote diagnosis and treatment.

Summary of Research Activities

  1. Investigates how changes in the metabolism of tryptophan, one of the essential amino acids, affect the deterioration of immunocompetence and central nervous functions due to aging.
  2. Currently developing a new drug to prevent abnormal metabolism of tryptophan, which we discovered accelerates the progression of Alzheimerユs disease.
  3. Engaged in the development of biomarkers for the early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease by metabolomics, proteomics, and transcriptome analysis.
