Objectives and Roles

To investigate the biological functions of the oral cavity, and to prevent and treat oral and dental disorders.

Summary of Research Activities

  1. Discovers new causes of periodontal disease, including aspects of age-related and lifestyle-related disorders, in order to develop new treatments for periodontal disease.
  2. Analyzes the molecular mechanisms by which oral bacteria and their products induce and exacerbate periodontal disease.
  3. Develops new treatment for dental caries, focusing on how stem cells in the dental pulp can regenerate teeth and dental pulp.
