Laboratory of Experimental Animal

Objectives and Roles

Animal experiments have been widely used to develop new medicines and to test the safety of other product. Laboratory of Experimental Animals support researchers to conduct these experiments properly not only from the scientific standpoints but also from the standpoint of animal welfare and personal safety. Additionally, our laboratory maintains the animal facility, manages experimental animals, such as aged mice and rats, used for gerontology and geriatric researches, and also provides various technical supports for research activity.

Summary of Research Activities

  1. From the standpoint of animal welfare, create appropriate environment by providing environmental enrichment for animals to conduct animal experiments properly.
  2. Provide technical supports with reproductive engineering techniques, such as microbiological cleaning and cryopreservation of embryo (or sperm) in mice.
  3. Investigates age-related changes in animals from embryonic to gerontic period using reproductive engineering techniques.
