Department of Frailty Research

Mission Statement

The aim of the Department of Frailty Research is, 1) to perform clinical studies for frail older patients, 2) to develop health care promotion for the prevention of frailty, and 3) to establish clinical evidence for managing old patients with various levels of frailty.

Clinical Research

  1. Epidemiological study to estimate frailty in older Japanese people

  2. Clinical study to implement frailty assessments into clinical practices

  • Usefulness of the Kihon checklist for geriatric patients with various clinical settings, such as pre-operative, polypharmacy, multimorbidities, and so on.
  1. Clinical study to develop prevention of frailty

  • Preventive cooperation with local comprehensive support center under long-term care insurance (LTCI) system
  • Enlightenment of the frailty concept to geriatric patients and their families, medical staffs, and care-providers
