Department of Alzheimer's Disease Research

Objectives and Roles

Our goal is to understand the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease through the analyses of the various cellular and animal models of the disease, leading to the development of novel diagnostic, preventive and therapeutic measures.

Summary of Research Activities

  1. To elucidate molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and identify novel risk factors and therapeutic targets for AD.
  2. To conduct cell biological and pathological studies to clarify the mechanism of AD pathology for developing the brand-new preventive/therapeutic tools.
  3. To study the mechanisms of synaptic dysfunctions accompanied with dementia for the purpose of development of a novel therapeutic method.
